Let Me Count The Ways ♥

2.16.2014

I can understand the hype of Valentine's Day.. flowers, chocolates, balloons, jewelry, fancy restaurants, and a lot more. I've "celebrated" Vday with my friends during my younger years and I didn't care whether or not I was in a relationship. My husband and I don't really do anything fancy on Vday, most likely because we don't want to join the flock of people in restaurants or in any other places. For some reasons, I don't like being in a place with too much people anymore. Am I the only one?

My husband brought me one dozen of Sweet Little Things cupcakes, his favorite which became my favorite too.

Days before Vday, I was already thinking of what I'm going to give him. I'm sure he won't mind if I don't give anything but I feel like doing something artsy and something that I really put my heart into. Years ago, I've already tried giving him a wristwatch, Black Forest cake, and even boxer shorts! He said he appreciates everything but to me, none of those gifts feel like something I really thought of carefully. So this time, I came up with this.. It's always the thought that counts right? At least to me..

It's actually pretty simple. I cut out 100 hearts in red and white, wrote one reason on each heart, and placed them all inside a box that I also assembled on my own. Then I cut out a piece of white cardboard and used my letter stickers to make the 100 Reasons Why I Love You. There! A gift that I actually put all my heart into. When I was writing the reasons, I was actually laughing.. and smiling. I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. And of course, it's not to say that I only have 100 reasons because the reasons are countless. You know what I mean. :) Everyday, there's always a reason to love.

So aside from love, care, time, and affection, what's the best gift you've given or received on a Vday?  I hope you enjoyed your Valentine's Day! ♥

  2. This is so amazing. So are the cupcakes!
My husband made a great dinner and we shared fancy gelato for dessert. Then today he let me sleep until 9 and both kids were dressed for a party I had to take them to at 10. That was so sweet.

  3. That is such a sweet gift! A while back I made "I love you because" photo albums for my kids and they loved them. But I've never done anything like that for my husband. We didn't do anything for Valentine's Day...we are the most unromantic couple ever. I did make a nice dinner though. :)

  6. That's a great idea for next year! No you aren't the only one. At about 4, my husband sent me a text saying that his dad wanted all of us to go out on Vday, and I said I didn't want to go. He wasn't that surprised since we haven't gone out for Vday in a while, but I certainly didn't want to brave the masses on this particular day. I was SO glad that plans got canceled. I gave him a card, he gave me a card and chocolates. I was surprised about the chocolates. LOL! Thanks for sharing with Countdown in Style.

    1. Ahaha, blessing in disguise! Good thing you got what you wanted. There are lot of fun things to do at home anyway! I always love to receive a card apart from the chocolates. I feel like a card is something really heartfelt.

  11. I can't imagine someone finding 100 things they'd love about me - I feel as if including "things I tolerate" and "things that aren't really all that bad, all things considered" would help!

I had a pizza dinner by candlelight with my girls on Valentine's Day- perfect.

  12. Hehehe cupcakes! I just made some for hubby. Ones he loves. I love your 100 reasons box! That's so thoughtful! We don't celebrate Valentine's Day actually. :) I hear you about the large crowds. I think it gets complicated with little ones too. I will have 2 possibly by my birthday :)

    1. Thanks Brittnei! It's sweet that you made your own cupcakes, if only I have the materials here, I'd gladly make some too! You're right that with little ones, things can get out of control. I don't usually bring my son outside especially when it's too crowded. Hehe

  13. Your gift idea is so sweet! I'd love to get that as a present! Good for you to be able to come up with 100 reasons you love your hubby! I'm not sure I could think of that many lol. And I totally agree about the crowds thing, I would must rather just stay at home and have a nice home cooked meal and spent time alone!
I'm stopping by from Countdown in Style; be sure to come back on Friday to see if I featured you!

    1. Ahh home-cooked meal is really nice. Thanks Julia! I actually started listing my reasons first before finally writing them down. I committed to 10 per day so by the end of 2 weeks, I'll love 100. It turned out to be easier than I thought, I wrote 20-30 per day. I'm sure there are lots of reasons you can think of too. Hehe.

  14. 100 reasons?? Wow, that definitely took some time and effort and I'm sure he loved that!! I feel happy about any kind of gift from my husband but the handmade, written type are my favorite!

    1. That's true! It really took me some time plus effort because I intended for it to be a surprise so I couldn't do it at home while he's around. LOL! I love handmade and handwritten notes too. They make me feel so special. Thanks Rachel! :)

  15. Those cupcakes look amazing! The best Valentine's Day gift was when my husband cooked me dinner and lit up my townhome with candles. He spoils me with gifts - not just Valentine's Day - but all the time. If we're low on funds, he finds things for us to do or cooks me nice dinners at home. This year, he bought me a keurig.
